Halloween Spooktacular
For Halloween, I worked hard in Adobe Premiere and After Effects in order to create a rather spine chilling "movie intro."
To begin, I found a spooky looking castle and edited it down in Photoshop; this allowed me to make it darker and to fit a rainy scene better. After it fit my desired mental scene, I began working on the text involved with PS and Illustrator. Using the text tool on PS, I was able to create a title and subtitle; effects such as blood dripping and 'warp' were also added as a bonus.
After Photoshop was finished, I began my work in After Effects. Following along with my mental picture, I added in a rain effect. Changing the speed and size, I was able to manipulate the rain to my liking. I had it raining the whole video, so there was no need to animate further.
After the rain, I brought in my title and subtitle from Photoshop. Animating in After Effects, I used the feature "unmelt" to give the text a haunted manner. I also played with some transition options, eventually ending up with my desired product.
After the text animation, I didn't hesitate to bring in my "victim." The girl on the cell phone started in a black background, but I color picked it out, to make it transparent. I then "choked" off her outline, so it appears smooth and blends into the castle background.
After the girl, I added in the monster. Wolfman was done originally on a green screen, but there were also other "non green" things in the background of the film. To fix this, I color picked the green out, and then selected a circle around wolfman as he moved. I made sure to adjust in including all of his body parts through the duration of the clip.
Then, I added in sound effects. I used spooky aura, rain, screaming, howling, and thunder sound effects for the overall intro. All of these were timed and transitioned to fit the specific parts of the film.
Finally, I created vignettes in After Effects. This is the black screen that opens and closes the intro. I played with opacity and animation in order to get the desired effect; closing the bars into the middle for the close was the most difficult part of the process.
Happy Halloween!
